Founded in 2018 by entrepreneurial sisters Jane Cox and Mary Warnest, this women-owned, family business is based in Melbourne, Australia. In the five short years since its launch, porter green has enjoyed rapid and outstanding growth worldwide.
The co-founders were passionate about creating a range of products that not only embodied the perfect pairing of form & function but where style + sustainability could go hand in hand. Every aspect of porter green has a story behind it from the motivation to create the collection to the name. If you’ve ever met Mary & Jane, you may well have heard about the Saturday afternoon when Jane pitched the name for their new venture. Not only is porter the French verb 'to carry', it’s also the maiden name of their remarkable mother. ‘green’ is for their shared commitment to our planet & Greening was also the maiden name of the sisters’ paternal grandmother. The name porter green was inspired by these tenacious, courageous & visionary women who continue to shape & influence the porter green journey.
The name of each product is also unique. An acronym that describes the attributes, so ‘sticky’ are these names that they’ve now entered the vernacular – it’s a fegg (+foldable +ethical +go-anywhere +glass), not a silicone tumbler!
Currently stocked in over 650 local outlets, the signature pale grey porter green packaging is a familiar sight on the shelves of a myriad of stores across Australia & New Zealand.
In addition, the brand was also recently released in the US, Europe, the UK, the Middle East and Southeast Asia to a rapturous response and has over 250 additional international stockists as at May 2023. Exhibiting this year at the prestigious Maison et Objet in Paris and Salone del Mobile in Milan, porter green’s innovative designs were a magnet for the crowds. As American retailers and consumers alike have already fallen in love with the collection, expansion in the US is next on the cards with exciting times ahead – watch this space!
